I have worked in the counseling field for over 20 years in a variety of settings and have accompanied many individuals and groups in their process of healing from the suffering that life brings. My practice is rooted in an understanding of the interplay between individual experience and systemic injustice and in the belief that we are continually evolving – individually, collectively and relationally.
I hold space that is curious, collaborative and warm. My intention is to bear witness to whatever pain has caused you to seek support, and to guide a process of moving through suffering into resilience and transformation. At the center of my practice is the self determination of each client to define what wellness and wellbeing looks like to them. I offer the tools, modalities and frameworks in my toolbox as possibilities for exploration on the path to self-understanding, healing and transformation.
Education and Training:
I hold an MSW from Simmons University School of Social Work earned in 2006.
I have additional training in EMDR, Progressive Counting, Flash Technique as well as ego state or parts therapy. In addition to these clinical modalities, I have been a yoga and meditation practitioner for many years and have completed various yoga teacher trainings in order to weave mindfulness and embodiment into my work. My exploration of care worker burnout and distress led me to a year-long certification program with the Upaya Zen Center in Socially Engaged Buddhism including their GRACE Training in Cultivating Compassion-based Interactions. I have also completed trainings with Kai Cheng Thom, Vikki Reynolds and Lama Rod Owens, among others.
